Our curriculum takes into consideration all the components of a high quality preschool program. The curriculum has been developed keeping the developmental milestones of children of the chosen age group in mind and makes use of the best practices from some of the tried and tested popular curriculum philosophies namely; Reggio Emilia Approach, Multiple Intelligences, Inquiry Based Learning, Play-way Method and Montessori Approach
Based on the Curriculum Philosophy we have devised a Curriculum Frame work and we call it the “Magic Triangle”. The magic triangle of our curriculum framework has been developed with focus on development of the ASK of the child.
A - Attitude
S - Skill
K - Knowledge
We believe that for the holistic development of the child we need to build the Attitude, Skill and Knowledge of the child right from the early years. This helps develop them into all rounded children with the right attitudes and values thus making them responsible and confident individuals in their later years.
As part of the Attitude building we focus on the Personal, Social, Emotional and Value development in the child. This helps the child have the right attitude irrespective of the situation that the child comes across in his life. We use inquiry based learning as part of the attitude building in children by asking them through provoking questions about situations and what they would do in these situations etc. We use Reggio Approach by giving them the right environment and also being a role modelling to ensure that the right socio-emotional and value development happens in order to develop the right attitude in young children.
For the holistic development of the child it is important that we focus on building the skill of the child and in our curriculum we do it through art, craft, music and dance and physical development; both in terms of fine and gross motor development. In traditional methods, skill building in a child was restricted to the skills developed in the area of language, math and science. However in our current setting we know that the intelligence is not limited to only developing skills in language, math and science but it is also about catering to spatial, bodily kinaesthetic and musical intelligences. These skills help the child express themselves in various ways and also give them an outlet for their creativity. Developing these skills helps develop their self-esteem, engage in group work, think and take decisions, problem- solving as well as learn.
To build the knowledge of the child we focus on developing their understanding of language, mathematics, science and social science. This we believe is the foundation to a journey of lifelong learning. When the knowledge of the child is developed it also equips him with the necessary abilities to go about his life in a smooth and efficient way and without these abilities days to day functioning becomes difficult. We use Inquiry based learning in knowledge development in our curriculum by asking questions that provide the thought process which leads towards gaining knowledge. Reggio Emilia approaches forms the basis on which the environment around the child is set in our curriculums to ensure that the learning proceeds in the right direction. Multiple Intelligence approach is an integral part of our Knowledge curriculum where we have different activities to cater to the different learning styles / intelligences of a child thus making the learning process an enjoyable one for the child.
